The L.L. Bean Storm Chasers Clog
Autumn is my favorite time of year. And when it is time to head up to Pinebox, my North Georgia mountain cabin, for Leaf-Looking Week each October, the L.L. Bean Storm Chasers Clog is the only shoe I carry. These easy-to-slip-on clogs are perfect for day hikes and anywhere you roam on backroad mountain trips. Not to mention, they are great for all conditions, especially rain, snow, and mud.
Usually, my shoes are the first thing I take off when I get home, but I can honestly say my Storm Chasers clogs are so comfortable I have found myself still wearing them around the cabin hours after I return home. A few years ago, L.L. Bean redesigned the Storm Chasers line of shoes, and I did not care for the new design at all. Apparently, I was not the only dissatisfied customer, because the line has undergone another makeover and the newest design is more like the original clogs I bought ten years ago.
According to my cousin April, there is nothing like mountains in the fall with thick socks and clogs, and I can agree with that!
L.L. Bean Storm Chasers, that is . . . .
L.L. Bean’s newest Storm Chasers Clog design.

I purchased a pair of storm chaser clogs three years ago. I use them in the winter to go outside for walking my dogs. I use them ,on average , a couple times a day for an hour or so. I don’t use them much at all when the weather is nice, only when it is wet or snowy. The first two Winters I loved them then I noticed that this Winter they have become very dangerous on any icy surface, They still have tread that is very, very good. I am assuming that the rubber tread is getting hard..Now I just noticed that the actual bottom tread part is de-laminating from the shoe. (falling off). Like I said ,the tread is like new. I love these clogs and ,yes ,I will purchase another pair, however ,am disappointed that even with very good leather and very good tread depth ,that the soles are literally falling off and have become unbounded. I would say that for a year they are great, but you’d better figure on purchasing a new pair each year, even if yours still look good.
Hi Frank! Thanks for sharing your experience with the Storm Chaser clogs. Did you know you can return them at any time for a refund or exchange? It is very easy to do, and there is no time limit on their warranty.
That would be great ,however ,after having them for this long? I will get in touch with them but would not blame them for not replacing them-I was not aware of a lifetime warrenty
Frank, it does not matter how long you have had the shoes nor if you have the receipt. If you have the receipt, you will get your original price back. If not, you will get the lowest sale price as a credit. L.L. Bean has an unlimited satisfaction guaranteed on all their products.
What a helpful review! I’m always going hiking and clambering around in tricky conditions, so I think these shoes would be perfect for me. I wear hiking boots, but I find them uncomfortable compared to my normal shoes, and the laces on them drive me nuts. These sound like they would solve all my problems! I’m from the UK but I’ll definitely add this to my ‘things to check out when I’m in the USA’ list!
Thanks,
Gemma
So glad the review was helpful for you, Gemma! I never want to be without my L.L. Bean Storm Chasers, especially during the autumn and winter months. Hope you make it to the USA before too long. If you get up to Maine, you can even visit the L.L. Bean Factory Store. Happy trails!
Great review, but I don’t see the Storm Chaser Clogs on the LL Bean site anymore. I have owned pairs in the past, and needed a new pair. Am I missing something, or did they stop making them?
Wow, Derek! Thanks for brining this to my attention. I just checked the website and found the women’s Storm Chaser clog, but nothing for men. I will try to give the company a call to see what is up. If they no longer make them, I will need to update or remove this post. Thanks again!
