The Unthinkable

Chronic Dry Eye Relief for Travelers 2

Dry eye was a condition foreign to me until the day the unthinkable happened.

It was the first day of a Rhine River cruise, and we were touring the windmills at Kinderdijk, Netherlands. Near the end of the tour, I suddenly saw black spots in my right eye, and later a grey veil begin rising into my field of vision. The following day, doctors in Cologne, Germany, confirmed the worst. The retina in my right eye had detached and torn, and I would have to be evacuated back to Florida for surgery.

My New Normal

As a result of that surgery, and several successive procedures, I developed dry eye. I tried more brands of artificial tears, drops, and gels than I can count, and finally settled on a brand that did not blur my vision and soothed my dry eye temporarily.

The routine of applying artificial tears at regular intervals became my new normal.

Because my dry eye symptoms are worse at night, I would frequently wake up and have to apply drops in the dark, and several applications in a row wold be required upon waking in the morning.

As a travel writer and influencer, my dry eye condition is further complicated due to prolonged use of my laptop and mobile device, conducting social media, writing articles, doing correspondence, and running a website.

While traveling, I am either behind the wheel on road trips or in the air on flights to story destinations. The low humidity and direct airflow in these climate-controlled spaces further compound my dry eye condition. It is not always convenient to find a spot to pullover and apply drops, and application during flights is difficult because airplane seats do not recline very far.

Chronic Dry Eye Relief

People who suffer from dry eye often experience the 5 key symptoms of dryness, irritation, grittiness, burning, and stinging. These symptoms can interfere with their enjoyment of daily life and hinder their performance at school, work, and while playing sports.

Enter Rohto Dry-Aid™.

Learning that there was a product that could keep my eyes moist for up to 12 hours was music to my ears, although I wasn’t sure I believed the claims. The only way to know for sure was to try it myself.

And I did.

The results were amazing! I experienced an immediate difference with Rohto Dry-Aid™ from the very first application. The drops were fast-acting, soothing, and non-blurring.

The Rohto claim to provide chronic dry eye relief for up to 12 hours is absolutely true. There have have been occasions I have needed an additional application within a 12-hour window, yet many days I go beyond twelve hours before needing another drop. Longevity will vary depending on individual conditions and circumstances.

Rohto’s LiquidShield™ technology is one reason behind its success as the #1 Global Eye Care brand. It works to restore the natural tear film and create a uniform moisture shield by working on all three layers.

Unlike other products that only address symptoms on one layer, Rohto Dry-Aid™ provides tear adhesion to the Mucin Layer, moisture to the Aqueous Layer, and slows evaporation on the Lipid Layer, thereby mimicking a stable, natural tear.
