TripAdvisor has named Futuroscope the best theme park in the world for 2026, and surprisingly, it’s not located in Florida or California. The futuristic park in France topped TripAdvisor’s Travelers’ Choice Best of the Best Awards thanks to consistently high reviews from visitors around the globe.
What makes Futuroscope different from traditional theme parks

Unlike classic amusement parks built around roller coasters and cartoon characters, Futuroscope focuses on immersive technology experiences. The park blends multimedia attractions, giant LED screens, 3D and 4D theaters, virtual reality, and interactive storytelling across more than 25 attractions.
Popular experiences include “Tornado Chasers,” which simulates the inside of a massive storm using motion platforms and one of the world’s largest indoor LED screens, and “The Greenhouse of Worlds,” where digital projections bring plants and animals to life.
The park recently added a massive new water attraction

In 2024, the park expanded with the opening of Aquascope, a futuristic indoor water park connected to the main resort. The addition helped boost the park’s global popularity heading into 2026 and added another reason travelers are making the trip to western France.
How TripAdvisor chooses the world’s “best” parks

TripAdvisor’s Travelers’ Choice Best of the Best rankings are based entirely on traveler reviews and ratings collected over a 12-month period. According to the company, fewer than 1% of all listings on the platform receive the distinction.
The rankings reflect overall guest satisfaction, review quality, and consistency rather than attendance numbers or brand size.
Several international parks outranked Disney destinations

Other parks that landed near the top of the rankings included Beto Carrero World, Waterbom Bali, Disneyland Paris, and Beach Park.
The top 10 also featured Puy du Fou, Siam Park, and Blackpool Pleasure Beach.
Only one U.S. park made the global top 20

The highest-ranked American destination was Knoebels Amusement Resort, which earned praise for its family-friendly atmosphere, free admission model, classic rides, camping facilities, and old-school amusement park charm.
The Pennsylvania resort has operated for more than 100 years and remains one of the few major U.S. parks where guests can enter without paying an admission fee.
Dollywood and Disney still ranked highly in the U.S.

While they missed the worldwide top 20, Dollywood and Magic Kingdom still ranked among the best theme parks in the United States according to TripAdvisor users.
Dollywood placed second among U.S. parks, while Disney World’s Magic Kingdom ranked third nationally.
Why travelers are increasingly seeking unique theme park experiences

The rankings reflect a growing trend in travel where visitors are looking for experiences beyond traditional rides and characters. Parks focused on immersive storytelling, technology, water attractions, and interactive entertainment are gaining popularity with travelers who want something different from the classic Disney-style formula.
For many visitors, parks like Futuroscope offer a mix of entertainment, art, technology, and travel experiences that feel more unique than a standard amusement park vacation.
